Founded in April 2013, Calgary United with Israel (CUWI) is a new dynamic local and international organization that advocates for the wellness and security of Jews and their national homeland. We also advocate for the safety and wellness of Jews living outside of Israel. We are a group of students, university alumni, professionals and community members at large - locally, nationally and internationally - who have united in a grassroots fashion to combat Jew hatred, and hateful activity at large. CUWI accomplishes this mission through dissemination of information, articles in the press, legal action, donations and more.
We were established in a grassroots fashion against the backdrop of perceived inadequate action on the part of our elected Jewish officials in the community. CUWI takes a keen interest in global Indigenous issues, with a specific focus on local Native ones. We also seek out sincere allies in other communities with whom we share common ground to determine where our interests intersect and how we may be of assistance to one another. Some of our project area include: Global Human Rights, the Law, International Indigenous Rights and Arab Zionism.
Our values are moral and intellectual integrity, pro-activeness and camaraderie.
